1) select any two functional group (such as OH1NH2,CHO or COOH ) for which you want to write. 2) For first functional group (Let say OH ): 2a) select any three Protecting group or reagent, but make sure they belong to three different classes (ether formation or sily! ether, ester formation, acetyl formation, THP etc). 2b) in case of first reagent: write Protection/Installation step including mechanism, arrows, reagents and intermediate if they have (preferably structures). Write Deprotection/De-installation to get back your functional group including mechanism, arrows, reagents and intermediate if they have (preferably structures). 2c) repeat 2b ) step for all three reagents that you have selected or planning to. 2d) Make the comparison table in a format that ishowed you in the class. 3) Repeat Step 2a-d) for next functional group (Let say NH2 )
