Task Interdependence

Task interdependence represents the degree to which team members are dependent on one another to complete their tasks. Researchers have identified four basic types of task interdependence in teams, each of which is based upon the degree of interaction, and the amount of coordination required, among team members. This activity is important because different types of team-based tasks will require different degrees of interdependence. To help teams meet their objectives and complete these tasks, good managers need to structure their teams properly.

The goal of this exercise is to improve your understanding of the four different types of task interdependence and when it is most appropriate to apply each one.
