An application that needs to obtain location updates for the physical location of the device makes use of the Location System Service and the LocationManager class.

(a) Describe the role that the LocationManager class plays when considering the general architecture for inter-process communication in Android given that multiple applications might be using the Location Service at the same time. In your answer you should explain any communication between the application, the kernel and any other functionality required in order to facilitate the use of this class. [10 marks]
