3.1. Question 3 [16] You work as an IT project manager at IP Data. The project you are working on has had some problems, and you were brought in to help sort them out. The project sponsor was in a hurry to finish the project and said that the business analysis time should be cut in half; only the most important functions were analysed due to time pressure. In addition, there was great pressure to cut out some of the testing stages. IT projects normally go through various test stages for good reason, but to save time the system integration testing was cut out of the systems development life cycle. The software that was selected did not run on the existing hardware and new hardware had to be bought. In addition, the software selection process was rushed and so the software still has to be customised substantially, which is a problem given that the proper business analysis was not done. The users are struggling to learn the new software, and with so much functionality that needs to be customised, user testing is becoming a problem.
