6(a) Suppose you wish to compare a new method of teaching 'reading' to slow learners, to the current standard method. You decide to base this comparison on the results of a reading test given at the end of a learning period of 6 months, of a random sample of 22 slow learners, 09 are taught by the new method and 13 are taught by the standard method. All 22 children are taught by qualified instructors under similar conditions, for a 6 months period.

The results of the reading test at the end of this period are given below:

(b) Past records in a process show that the average rate is 50 per hour operator.

Modifications to the process are made to try an increase, the average production rate.

This new method is tried with 9 operators, whose production rates are 51, 48, 50, 56,

52, 54, 53, 49 and 55. Does this trial establish that the new method has a higher

average production rate than the old 5%.

(c) Distinguish between Primary and Secondary data. Mention methods of collecting each of them.
