A bank has two types of services: credit application and bill payment. 35% percent of the customers apply for credit and the rest for bill payment. The Bank has 6 clerks, 2 of them (Ali, Beril) work in the credit application, 2 of them (Cihat, Derya) work in the bill payment, and the senior clerk Ekrem works in both processes. Faruk does the inspection after the process is being completed. A customer leaves the bank if she/he does not fail the inspection. Due to several reasons, 8% of the customers fails the inspection and need to return to the same clerk who initially processed the customer's request. These returned customers have priority over the other customers. An inspected customer does not need a second inspection and leaves the bank. Except for Faruk, the clerks take a 30 min lunch break starting at 11:00 a.m. in the following order: Ekrem-Cihat-Derya-Ali-Beril. If the clerk is busy with a customer, she/he completes the process, leaves for the break, and returns back when the break time is over (it is possible to have less than 30 min break). At the end of 8 hours, the bank closes its doors to new customers but the customers already in the system by that time, keep receiving services. Each clerk's processing time is different. The table below shows who works in which process and also the processing time distributions. The customer arrival pattern varies over the day and is summarized also in the table below.
