A better understanding of social entrepreneurship requires a good understanding of commercial and social entrepreneurs. Although social entrepreneurs share some of the qualities of regular entrepreneurs, there are certain individual qualities that make up a social entrepreneur. 1.1 Social entrepreneurs are individuals whose activities, ideas and strategies are key in social entrepreneurship. As stated earlier on, social entrepreneurs have a "business school brain and a social welfare worker heart" which enables them to innovate solutions that are sustainable to social problems which defy traditional solutions. Analyse FIVE (5) defining characteristics of social entrepreneurs. (20 marks) 1.2 Apart from characteristics, differences between social entrepreneurs and the 'mainstream'/commercial entrepreneurs tend to be based on a number of spheres attributable to the fact that their objectives are not the same. Discuss such differences using the FOUR (4) main domains noted by Austin, Stevenson and Wei-Skillern. 1.3 Evaluate and discuss the concept of social value propositioning.
