A natural gas containing 82 mole% CH, and the balance C,H, is used as a fuel to generate steam in an industrial plant (Figure 1). The natural gas is fed into a furnace at 25°C and burned at a rate of 10,000 mol/hr with 20% excess air. The heat transferred from the furnace is used to convert a liquid feed water at 25 °C into a saturated steam at 30 bar. During the combustion of natural gas, all the CH, and C,H, are combusted to form CO, CO and H,0.
