ACA 1. Implement a RFID system

The advantages of implementing a RFID system are that RFIDs are much faster to read compared to barcodes by their corresponding readers. The use of radio waves allows the RFID tag to be scanned even without facing the reader. It can either be not facing the reader or hidden inside a box, as long as it is within its vicinity. RFID readers can monitor multiple tags at once and provide real-time monitoring. The embedded chip of each RFID tag is more rugged compared to barcodes, as one minor scratch of the code would make it difficult to scan by the barcode scanner. This system is good for the healthcare sector (locating equipment, medicines, and assignments), high security transactions (banking), and warehousing, such as the system used by Amazon. The disadvantages of the RFID system are that it is expensive and time-consuming to set up a whole working system for a business as a reader can only reach 12 meters, so it might require multiple readers. It might not always be more efficient, especially for MSMEs. The complication of setting up a working RFID system could take years and could even affect the business operations.

ACA 2. Implement an alternative system such as a barcode system

The advantages of this alternative is that it is less expensive and less complicated to implement into the business. A system such as a barcode system has almost the same function as the RFID system, but is easier to implement into the business operation. Businesses such as retail where a fast flow of inventory might not be the number one priority or have involvement in high security transactions would be better off to just stick to a barcode system, which is less complex, easier to implement, and less expensive. The disadvantages of other systems such as a barcode system lies in the fact that in order to access a code it needs to be in line-of-sight and one barcode can be scanned at a time, manually.
