How effective can any Western presence be in defeating the threat of terrorism and in forming alliances throughout the region considering the murky and complex past the West has had in the Middle East? 2. How effective has been the US response to ISIS? How effective has been the world's response to ISIS? What should the US and world response be to ISIS? How can the region (including secularists as well as devout Muslims) combat the stain that ISIS and groups like ISIS have cast not just on the region but on Islam itself? 4. How do current events (the current Arab-Israeli War) fit in the broader spectrum of these events? Is the current Hamas-Israeli War just another iteration of this ongoing struggle or is it something new?
