Question: After reading Chapter 9 with respect to writing negative messages, write a one-page, single-spaced Bad News letter that informs employees that due to the construction

After reading Chapter 9 with respect to writing negative messages, write a one-page, single-spaced "Bad News" letter that informs employees that due to the construction of an addition to the existing four-story above-ground parking garage that will eventually allow ALL employees to park in a protected environment, employees will need to park at a remote site one-half mile away from the main building during the construction window of 1 April and 1 October 2021.

Your company is located in Memphis, Tennessee.

The company has grown from 500 employees to 1400 employees and the original parking garage can no longer house cars for all employees. Frustration has occurred as employees attempt to find parking inside the garage, especially in inclement weather. When this happens, they have to park outside in the unprotected lot that is adjacent to the garage. That adjacent lot will be the footprint for the garage addition.

As the company expects to grow to 2000 employees by 2024, management has decided to "bite the bullet" and construct an addition to the existing parking garage. The current garage will be used by the construction crew to store materials -- thus, no one will be allowed to use the existing above-ground garage structure.

Shuttle buses will be provided, but employees should plan on an additional 15-minutes in the morning AND in the afternoon to get to/from the remote parking lot site via shuttle bus to their office/car. Obviously, this will cause inconvenience.

Use an indirect approach communication strategy and include a buffer paragraph, reasons for the decision, the actual bad news (inconvenience), and positive close. We will discuss these steps during our Week ELEVEN threaded discussion. Stay tuned!
