Prl Detergent' produces regular, strong and antiallergic liquid detergents in Turkey. The company manufactures these products by blending three chemical detergent components. The detergents are sold at different prices, and the components have different costs. The company wants to determine how to blend the three components into to three detergent products and maximize profits. Data available shows that the regular detergent can be sold for 3 $ per kilo, strong detergent 3,50 $ per kilo and antiallergic detergent for 4 $. For the current production planning period, 'Prl Detergent' can obtain the three detergent components at the cost per kilo and in the quantities shown in table below; Detergent components Cost/Kilo A | IC Maximum available 2,9 7500 3,1 12000 3,3 12000 These detergent components must share a storage tank. When transporting these components, they must share a pipeline. Components A and B are pooled in a single storage tank and component C has its own storage tank. Regular, strong and antiallergic detergents are made from blending the pooled components and Component C. This pooling is illustrated in figure right. Finished product specifications for the regular, strong and atiallergic detergents restrict the amounts of each component that can be used in each product. Table below lists the product specifications. Current commitements to distributors require 'Prl Detergent' to produce at least 10.000 kilos of regular detergents and 3.000 kilos of strong detergents.
