An automatic car exit gate has an arm that closes down, or opens b lifting the arm. This allow cars to exit the campus parking lot but not to enter.

The door has two sensors i the floor , one before the exit, and the other after the exit

When the car approaches the sensor BEFORE the gate then the gate opens and it will not close until the car pass completely through the door

When the car has passed the door it will trigger the sensor AFTER the door and will make it close.

If the car approaches the door from outside and steps in the sensor AFTER the door, it will NOT open the door.
