1. Read Chapter 2 -Selective Memory in a Global Culture. While reading make sure to note positive and negative points the author makes in reference to typing Canadian identity to the sport of hockey.

2. Create your own conclusion on the cultural changes and the impact this has on the sport of hockey. Can and should Canadians claim that hockey is "Canada's game"?

Your analysis (1-2 pages) needs to address the following: the impact of myths, how the US is connected to this topic, and the impact of deterritorialization.

*Please do not focus solely on winning since this is a business evaluation that involves much more depth such as corporate image strategy, globalization, multiculturalism, etc.*

3. Read/skim Chapter 9 & 10. The key is to grasp the NHL's footprint strategy and the resulting impacts on stadium development, market selections, and fan vs. flaneurs.

4. Summarize the changes, in 1-2 pages, that have emerged in NHL expansion and stadium development as a result of political and business pressures.
