As it is often the case, personal data is used for purposes other than the ones stated at the time of its collection. Through decontextualization, its use becomes defective in the sense that the individual may be put to disadvantage or be discriminated against. Furthermore, as information means power, there is a glaring power unbalance between the individual and the Big Data corporations engaged in personal surveillance and in selling such personal data that they collect. How does such asymmetric balance of power between an individual and the networks of control impact one's dignity, particularly when the quality of data is in question?
