As the CEO of a health care organization the committee you appointed to screen and select candidates
Question:
As the CEO of a health care organization the committee you appointed to screen and select candidates for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) presents you with two candidates for you to make a final selection.
One (A) is a Certified Public Accountant and extensive experience in the accounting and financial operations with many organization, none of which are health or human service organizations. When asked about that, the candidate A says, my job is accounting and finance, assets and liabilities, debits and credits, not clinical services. I can keep the books and prepare the reports.
Candidate B on the other hand has extensive experience in health and human service organizations, a Masters in Health Education, but is not a CPA, and very limited experience in the financial and accounting area. When asked, this candidate B says my contribution to you is an understanding of the special problems health and human service organizations face, but I am a little weak in accounting and finance.
Would you choose Candidate A or B and why?
