Some assessment analytics software such as Scantron can store the test results of a class. For this application, array is more appropriate since the class size or number of students is usually fixed over a term or school year. In most cases, all test results are stored as an integer or float. The advent of business intelligence has prompted some companies to collect big data on entities including customers, products, and parts. The volume of data increases almost continuously as more customers or items are added. For each customer, information such as account number, name, and contact information are collected and stored. The same is true of products or parts for which the information include serial/part number, name, brand, and capacity. This application requires ArrayList since the array size should be adjustable and the stored information are of different types. I wonder whether spreadsheets such as MS Excel and MS Access or SQL databases use ArrayList or a similar command.
