ASSESSMENT [100 MARKS]

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

This is an integrated assessment. Students are required to complete this project in order to pass this module. The purpose of the assessment is to gauge competence in MS Project and its application across the project management syllabus.

An outline of a project is presented, for which you are required to develop a project proposal using the format provided to be presented to the customerfor consideration towardsawarding the potentialproject work to you. DO NOT present a proposalfor a project of your choice. For this assessment you are not required to cite or reference any theory. However, you must demonstrate the ability to apply the theory within the proposal for the purposes of procuring the project work. Marks are awarded for correctrepresentation per sectionin the proposal as well as for appropriately labelledextracts (graphs, tables,charts) from MS Project. Extractsmust be placed immediately beforethe discussion in the relevantsection of the proposal and reference MUST be made to the extract in the discussion to get that sections full marks. 50% of the total marks will be allocated to the written proposalcomponent and 50% to the relevant extractsfrom MSP. The main body of the report must be no more than TWENTY (20) pages.

Project: CSR Project: PrimarySchool Renovation Background

You have just completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and are currentlyplanning as part of your companys CorporateSocial Responsibility (CSR), to renovate a local primary school. All 5 buildings on the schoolpremises are in need of a major painting. Develop a projectproposal on the for the implementation of this CSR project. All processes planned for should be finalisedwithin 1 month. You are required to submit a proposal in the report format provided, outlining how all planningand preparation would be effected.

REPORTFORMAT

Use the followingheaders (necessary for grading). Annexures must be from MS Projectto get that sections points/marks.

1.1 Introduction: State the objective i.e. why your help is needed. State the project goal, plus any constraints or conditions. Breakdown thegoal into several general services yourCompany will offer,and the valuethat each service offersto the CSR Project.	(10)
1.2 Assumed Resources: List all resources that will be needed, including your staff. Discussassumed resources, including client information needed. Especially note external resources and requirements.	(10)
1.3 Cost Estimates: Present the specific tasks you will do as a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and give cost estimates, with sub-totals at each leveland total estimated cost. Briefly discussthe estimates, wherethe costs mainly go, and effortsmade to savecosts.	(20)
1.4 Schedule anddependencies: Discuss the projectdependencies and list the tasks on the critical path. Discuss the critical path tasks, and methodsused to shorten the critical path.	(20)
1.5 Milestones andDeliverables: List and discuss the milestones and the deliverables for each. Be very specific abouteach milestone, including the project finish milestone.	(10)
1.6 Project Controland Risks: -Discuss the general strategy that will be used to manage theproject to completion. -Project must have at least two phases. Discuss how they connect to each other, and the milestones. -Discuss why you took this strategy. Summarise TEN (10) mostimportant project risks,and how theywill be dealt withif they occur.	(20)
1.7 Summary: Briefly summarise, giving the overall project cost, the project benefits as bullet points, and the general strategy. Give the client a list of meetings, with details like who, when and where and estimated times, and desired deliverable.	(10)
