1. Assignment 1 The assignment will be available at the beginning (12:00 AM) at the beginning of the Module and is due submitted online by the end of the day as illustrated inthe Course Calendar. Answers just be submitted via Blackboard (e.g. emailed answers are not admissible). You might want to avoid waiting until the last minute to submit in case Blackboard is slow, crashes, your wireless gets slow or goes down, etc., etc. Late Penalties apply (cf. the syllabus). The Question:

   Based upon what you have learned in this module, explain how a computer program (already in memory) would transfer some data (also already in memory) to an I/O device. For instance, the data might represent an image being displayed on the screen, or some audio being played on a speaker.

   • How the processor keeps track of where in memory the current program instruction being executed is.
   • The kinds of things the programs instructions will be doing.
   • The effect of the instructions on the data and perhaps other parts of the computer.
   • How the Processor interacts with the I/O device, and how they keep track of when each other is ready.
