Assignment $1$: VLAN Configuration and Trunking

Objective: The objective of this assignment is to configure VLANs and trunking on two Cisco switches, S$1$ and S$2,$ to segregate network traffic and enable communication between VLANs.

$1.$ Initial Configuration:

On Switch S$1$:

Set the hostname to OLD$\_$MAIN.

Set the enable secret password to "CTIRSUCO".

Create a local user "anthony" with the password "CTIRSUCO$1$$$2\%3".$

$2.$ VLAN Configuration:

On Switch S$1$:

Create VLAN $10$ named "SALES."

Create VLAN $20$ named "TECH."

Verify the VLAN configuration using the "show vlan brief" command.

Configure Gigabit Ethernet interfaces Gig$0/1$ and Gig$1/1$ as access ports in VLAN $10$ and $20,$ respectively.

Verify the VLAN and interface configuration again.

On Switch S$2$:

Set the hostname to HOL.

Set the enable secret password to "CTIRSUCO".

Create a local user "anthony" with the password "CTIRSUCO$1$$$2\%3".$

$3.$ More VLAN Configuration on S$2$:

On Switch S$2$:

Create VLAN $10$ named "SALES."

Create VLAN $20$ named "TECH."

Configure Gigabit Ethernet interfaces Gig$1/1$ and Gig$2/1$ as access ports in VLAN $10$ and $20,$ respectively.

Verify the VLAN configuration.

Save the configuration on S$2.$

$4.$ Configuring Trunking:

On Switch S$1$:

Configure interface Gig$2/1$ as a trunk port.

Remove the access VLAN configuration on Gig$2/1.$

Allow VLANs $1,10,$ and $20$ on the trunk port.

Set the native VLAN to $1.$

Save the configuration.

On Switch S$2$:

Configure interface Gig$0/1$ as a trunk port.

Remove the access VLAN configuration on Gig$0/1.$

Allow VLANs $1,10,$ and $20$ on the trunk port.

Save the configuration.

$5.$ Verification:

Assign the same IP address in Exercise $4\mathrm{.}1$ to the PCs

Verify the VLAN and trunking configurations on both switches using appropriate show commands.

Ensure that PCs in VLAN $10$ can communicate with each other and PCs in VLAN $20$ can do the same.

Test inter$-$VLAN communication between PCs in VLAN $10$ and PCs in VLAN $20.$
