Chapter 2 provides an insight into the impact of the social, economic and political contexts on the HRM function in organisations. The HR manager must identify those influences that will impact on the strategic direction of the organisation and the management of its human resources. Some of the major emerging influences include the global economic context, the Australian Economy, the changing workforce, labour & migration (particularly post Covid19), and flexibility, among others. Topics 1, 2 and 3 cover some of these influences in more detail. For example, Topic 2 focuses on how the legal environment influences the practice of HR, such as the area of industrial relations, discrimination in the workplace, and employment law.

Your task is to find FOUR (4) recent articles that refer to any of these emerging influences - Please see below for the requirements for the standards of these articles. Each article must discuss a separate issue. Briefly summarise the key issues highlighted in the article and explain the relevance to the practice of HRM using the course concepts and reference materials. Please ensure you clearly state which emerging issue your article relates to.

Each article discussion should be a maximum of 400 words (with requirement for 1500 +/-).

You must include TWO (2) academic journal articles published between 2019-2023, such as from the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, Human Relations, Human Resource Management etc. These articles do not need to be Australian based. The remaining TWO (2) articles must be Australian based sources and may include newspapers, industry magazines, government websites or reports, or other credible web sources. Wikipedia is not a reliable web source and should not be used. The two non-academic journal articles must be from 2019-2023 in order to ensure currency of content and must be from Australian based sources. The library help page found on the front page of this Moodle site provides instructions on how to search for articles in both newspapers and academic journals.

Articles 1 & 2 will be marked as Academic Journal Articles and Articles 3 & 4 will be marked as Australian based sources.

Please provide a reference list at the end of the assignment with the full citation details for each article cited in your assignment. You do not need to include a copy of the article. Remember to provide in-text references for the article when summarising it in the report. For example, according to Smith (2019) the findings of the article were Use the APA (7th) or Chicago Author-Date styles of referencing (do not use footnoting).
