Assignment Question:

Using the knowledge you have gained from this course and the evidences you have collected (see below), outline your academic and 4-year career development plan, what has influenced this career choice; the theories and critical aspects of employability that have influenced your planning and discuss the steps you have taken so far toward achieving these goals.

Your assignment must have an introduction, body and conclusion.

Introduction

• Start with your dream, your aim, or what you want to become?

• Why that aim, dream or whatever you want to become?
• State what you want to become at the end of 4 years from today.

Outline your academic and 4-year career development plan

• In order to achieve your 4 year objective State your career plan

• Career plan e.g. first I will complete education and then I will do job in XYZ area
  • Completing education: what will be your subject choice? Why that choice?
• Skill Audit - These are my strengths and skills requirement.
  • This is where I am atm (Highlight Strengths and Weaknesses)
    • How have you developed those skills?
      • Academics? Extra Curriculars? Previous job/work experiences?
    • Talk about the 5 personality tests you took, and highlight your strengths?
  • This is where I will be after the degree (Which weaknesses will you cover)
    • What skills will academics update?
  • This is where I need to be in Four years (Which strengths will you develop)

What has influenced this career choice;

• Talk about the job youve identified for yourself (refer to job advert attached as appendix)
• Why have you selected that job?
  • In line with your dream, aim, or education?
  • In line with values you hold dear? Refer to value grid.
  • Influenced by recent trends, changes, global environment, local environment?
  • Peer pressure, family pressure?
  • Corporate Cultural fit for that job?
    • You think you could be a right fit (refer to your cover letter in appendix)
• What skills are required for that job?
• Do you have those skills now or do you need to develop them?
  • If you have the skills, refer to them refer to your CV and STAR Technique evidence (Leadership, teamwork skills etc.)
  • If you do not have the skills, refer to the last portion where you will talk about developing skills to achieve your goals.
