Auditing processes are critical in how we understand the work of government. The GAO periodically publishes a "yellow book" that outlines core perspectives and processes related to auditing. The most recent version of the yellow book discusses a number of ethical principles, including: 

a) the public interest; 

b) integrity; 

c) objectivity; 

d) proper use of government information, resources, and positions; 

e) professional behavior.
