1)Back in 2012, Apple Maps had high expectations from customers to outwit or compete with Google Maps, but it turns out to be one of the biggest debacles of the decade. This comes as Apple was about to release the new iOS 6 update. One of the most glaring issues were gaping weaknesses in map data especially in rural areas. However, being the leader that Tim Cook is, he acknowledged his companys gaffes, and took responsibility for it by making a public statement apologizing for the issues within the app. Thus, he even proposed some temporary solutions to his customers by directing them to his competitors such as Waze app and MapQuest. Other than that, he also made the decision to fire the man that was not culpable for his own actions for the poor navigation of Apple Maps when he defied to sign the apology statement.
2)Apple had a dispute with the US Federal Government regarding a terror crime in December 2015. A short summary regarding to the incident was a gunman was killed and the police needed to unlock the dead suspects iPhone to procure the evidence to that investigation. So, in essence, Tim Cook was at a crossroad on whether to assist the FBI on the investigation regarding the terror crime or upheld their policy on personal privacy. Ultimately, he made the decision to stick to his policy on personal privacy.
Early in February 2016, he went on an interview with the Wall Street Journal to elaborate further on his decision to preserve privacy rights which coincide with the terror crime in December 2015. In that interview, Gerard Baker, the interviewer, pressed Cook multiple times on Apples position as a large organization to help solve crimes in the country. However, Cook defended every argument made by the interviewer and accentuated that privacy is a fundamental right for his customers and needed to be protected at all costs.
3) Cook has faith and deference for his employees and allows them to take the lead. For instance, in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, he uttered about the importance of having a diverse field of people from different cultures , expertise in his organization and he want to motivate his employees to be themselves and capitalizes on what they do best.
