AI-powered digital grocer Farmcart has announced a new partnership with autonomous delivery van company. The company began a pilot testing the customer experience of grocery delivery via self-driving van on select routes in San Fransisco. Its a fairly hands-off process: Customers who ordered through autonomous delivery receive a notification when the vehicle arrives. They enter a code via text message, and a dedicated compartment of the vehicle opens up and the shoppers can get their orders. When the customers take the product from the compartment, it is empty and it closes. While many services have talked about making deliveries via autonomous vehicles, Farmcart is actually doing it, the CEO and the co-founder says. This technology will help us be more efficient, enabling us to get fresh groceries into our customers homes even faster and cheaper than before.
