Before August 8, 2016 Delta Airlines had established a reputation as the most reliable airline in the world. The computer outage in August changed everything, leaving Delta customers frustrated. Commenting on the outage Delta CEO, Ed Bastian, said that over the last three years, weve invested hundreds of millions of dollars in technology, infrastructure upgrades and systems including backup systems to prevent what happened yesterday from occurring. He further stated that Our infrastructure is dated, no question but I dont think that was the problem. Analysts believe that complexity rather than the aging infrastructure is the real issue that led to the outage and plagues all airlines.
