  • Select a product, process, website, or organization you would like to be the subject of your benchmarking exercise
  • Select at least three specific business products, processes, websites, or organizations you would like to benchmark.
  • Identify three distinct criteria related to the focus of your benchmarking exercise that can be used to evaluate and compare your chosen subjects.
  • Decide how each of the criteria will be measured (e.g., yes/no, degree, amount, scale, etc.).
  • Describe a benchmarking table that lists criteria in the left-hand column and the selected products, processes, websites, or organizations to benchmark in the top row.
  • Fill in the table.
  • Give each product, process, website, or organization an overall score or grade to establish which best meets the three benchmarking criteria.
• Provide at least one paragraph explaining the value of completing this exercise.
