can someone draw a future state value stream map for this rban Haven Furniture UHF
Urban Haven Furniture is a furniture manufacturer selling to retail stores. In the last few
years, the company has taken on a considerable volume. Resources have been assigned but
not with a production system focus. As a result, UHF has been receiving customer
complaints and hasnt been able to deliver on time.
After analysing the production and applying the principles of
Group Technology, UHF identified several product families.
This case concerns one product family glass tables, which
come in small S and medium size M
Customer complaints mostly relate to getting the wrong
components in their flat pack or the table being wobbly after
they assemble it Some of the customer complaints include the
following. I can't believe how unstable this table is One slight
bump and it wobbles like crazyThis table is a disaster
waiting to happen. During assembly, some of the screws stripped easily. Now, it wobbles
like crazy, and Im worried it's going to collapse any minuteSome of the hardware was
missing, I wasnt able to assemble the table
Furniture is a maketostock business. It currently takes over a month to get through the
company production processes.

Production Processes
Tables are made of three parts round glass, aluminium disc hardware, and timber legs.
While the glass is cut into a round shape, the discs are cut from aluminium coils. The
aluminium hardware is then glued into the glass.
At the same time, legs are made from wood lumbers. The wood is cut into standard pieces
and then shaped using a lathe. After sanding and coating, the legs are packaged together
with the glass and its aluminium hardware attached to it Finally, the flat pack is briefly
inspected to ensure all the components have been included.
