CASE STUDIES
You have been selected as project manager for a digital distance learning platform project, sponsored by the owner of your startup company. You plan to outsource some work (for example, buying a laptop, buying & setting up internet connection and also on premise & cloud server, and providing 3 QA tester resources). And, remember that your schedule and goal is to complete the project within six months at a cost of under IDR 500,000,000
Question:
1. Review the WBS chart and Gantt chart you created for numbers 3 & 4 in the previous TK (Project Scope Management). Suggest 3 to 5 additional activities that will help you estimate resources and duration. Write a one-page paper describing this new activity.
2. Identify at least 5 milestones for your digital platform project. Write a short paper describing each milestone using the SMART criteria. Discuss how specifying the details of these milestones can add activities or tasks to a Gantt chart. Keep in mind that milestones usually don't have a duration, so you must have a task that will complete it.
3. Using the Gantt chart you created for number 4 in the previous Kindergarten and the new activities and milestones you proposed in numbers 1 and 2 above, create a new Gantt chart using Ms. Project or Ms. Excel or other software/application. Estimate the task duration and enter the appropriate dependencies. Remember that your target schedule for this project is six months.
4. Write a short paper on how you would assign people and/or dollars (costs) for each activity from numbers 1, 2 and 3. Include a table or matrix that lists how much each person will work (or how much it will cost). you set) for each task. The assignment of these resources should make sense given the duration estimates made in item 3 above. Note that the estimated duration is not the same as the estimated effort because it includes the elapsed time.
