11. Read the case study and answer the following questions: a. Identify the conflict points in the scenario? Which approach is used to manage the conflict in each of those situations? b. Suggest an alternative conflict management approach for each of the conflicts and provide your reason in its support. c. Identify the decision points. What methods are used in making those decisions? Case Study Team Yellow is chosen to design a Wireless Sensor Board (WSB). It consists of three members; Jason, Rahul, and Nancy. The team has designed a sensor board that can be easily deployed in difficult terrain. Nancy is the team lead who called a meeting to decide about the communication interface for the sensor board that can be used to communicate with the management station. She asked the team to consider wireless communication because that would require no physical attachment with the sensor board. Rahul proposed that the team should consider Zigbee card. Jason countered his proposal by suggesting WiFi to be more appropriate considering the popularity of WiFi in Wireless LAN market. Rahul withdrew his proposal for Zigbee card. Nancy asked Jason to evaluate WiFi in terms of cost, power consumption, and robustness of its device driver software. She asked Rahul to provide the same information for Zigbee. The team agreed on her suggested approach with Jason's proposed addition of learning time to the set of metrics. Zigbee was a clear winner on cost and power consumption, while more robust device driver was available for WiFi that could cut down the learning time substantially. Jason vehemently defended WiFi on the ground that time is extremely critical for the project. Nancy asked him how much of the remaining project time can be spent on testing the device driver. Finding his empty look she suggested that power consumption should be of higher concern since the time they were able to save from the board design phase could be added to the time needed for testing and fixing the driver software. Rahul agreed to her assessment, which led to the decision of using Zigbee card for communicating with the management station. Jason proposed that the team should also consider the interface used to attach the card to the sensor board. The team unanimously decided to use USB interface for that attachment
