CASE STUDY #4: The Do-It-Yourself Supervisor Joanne was a capable and enthusiastic employee. She was promoted to supervise a group of 10 employees doing work very similar to her own past assignment. As time passed, her hours of work increased steadily and she was less and less available to her employees, peers, and to her own manager-with whom coordination was important.
