After you have collected data and answered the questions on page 3 of the worksheet, compile your responses to address the following 3 prompts.

1. Method.Write a paragraph or two describing your method. Include information about the volunteer, the unconditioned stimulus, the conditioned stimulus. Explain what you did (as the experimenter) on a training trial and a test trial. Specify the number of training and test trials you conducted.
2. Data.Report the observations you recorded in the table on pages 2-3 of the worksheet. Make sure you report what you observed rather than your inferences about your volunteer's covert behavior. You can observe what your volunteer does, but not what they think or how they feel. For example, you can observe thatshe wrinkled her nose, but not she was annoyed by the sound. You can observe thathe said, "my mouth feels so dry,"but not that his mouth became dry. That would imply that you were measuring the dryness of your volunteer's mouth directly. They probably won't let you do that.
3. Results.Write a paragraph describing your results. If anything unexpected or unusual occured, report it in words. Specify whether the conditioning was successful and describe the evidence supporting your conclusion. Specify whether extinction occurred and describe the evidence supporting your conclusion.
