Step 1 - Team Charter (5 Points) - We do this to set the expectations for the assignments, and it is not that much different than the beginning of a work group or strategy team in the workplace.

1. Purpose:

4. As you work on this collaborative project, what is it that this team would like to see emerge?
5. How will you measure the goals that you set?
6. What is the outcome that you expect for these assignments?
7. Define the roles of the group members:
8. It should be clear what is expected of each team member
9. Identify and explain, clearly:
10. what the responsibilities are (for example):
11. Analysis of information
12. Submission of decisions
13. Writing the memos
14. who is responsible
15. Sue will submit our team decisions
16. what are the expectations
17. Example: submission of the decisions to the littlefield labs will be delivered on time.
18. What happens when expectations are not met?
19. Example: the responsible party will be marked down in individual evaluations...
20. Meetings:
21. When will your group meet?
22. How will you meet? Online? Phone?
23. How will you arrive at decisions before submission? Votes?
24. Who will keep track of decisions, timelines, minutes, etc.
25. Who submits decisions?

27. What is the preferred method of communication for the team?
28. How will miscommunications be handled? THESE HAPPEN!

Other suggestions:

• Review the deadlines for each of the project components
• Develop and outline that includes the team members and their responsibilities
• Discuss what you will all do when one team member is not participating
