Collaborative Assignments Content
Step 1 - Team Charter (5 Points) - We do this to set the expectations for the assignments, and it is not that much different than the beginning of a work group or strategy team in the workplace.
- Purpose:
- In a few sentences, define the purpose of your team.
- Developmental goals:
- As you work on this collaborative project, what is it that this team would like to see emerge?
- How will you measure the goals that you set?
- What is the outcome that you expect for these assignments?
- Define the roles of the group members:
- It should be clear what is expected of each team member
- Identify and explain, clearly:
- what the responsibilities are (for example):
- Analysis of information
- Submission of decisions
- Writing the memos
- who is responsible
- Sue will submit our team decisions
- what are the expectations
- Example: submission of the decisions to the littlefield labs will be delivered on time.
- What happens when expectations are not met?
- Example: the responsible party will be marked down in individual evaluations...
- Meetings:
- When will your group meet?
- How will you meet? Online? Phone?
- How will you arrive at decisions before submission? Votes?
- Who will keep track of decisions, timelines, minutes, etc.
- Who submits decisions?
- Communication:
- What is the preferred method of communication for the team?
- How will miscommunications be handled? THESE HAPPEN!
Other suggestions:
- Review the deadlines for each of the project components
- Develop and outline that includes the team members and their responsibilities
- Discuss what you will all do when one team member is not participating
