(Compare and contrast the example from the case study, your example, and your peers’ examples. ) 1.companies large and small can experience great benefits to their productivity, efficiency and overall organization by implementing the use of enterprise resource planning (erp). It is clear that the government agencies involved would have been able to prevent the deaths of banita jack's daughters if their multiple databases, and independent systems had been linked though the use of erp. after some research, i found that water company, talking rain, experienced many benefits by installing an erp solution. before this though, talking rain used multiple different spreadsheets to document all their records, and each of these different spreadsheets needed to be manually created and edited (ciecierski, 2013). this system proved to be extremely inefficient due to the fact that any time an employee needed to extract information from one spreadsheet in order to analyze it would take far longer than it needed to be (ciecierski, 2013). to correct this inefficiency, talking rain installed microsoft dynamics nav, a erp that centralized talking rain's vast amount of spreadsheets into one accessible system (ciecierski, 2013). in addition to reducing the amount of time employees spent retrieving and analyzing the information they needed, microsoft dynamics nav allowed executives to see a more accurate picture of the company as a whole, instead of multiple choppy spreadsheets (ciecierski, 2013). further benefits include cutting closing times in half, performing ad-hoc reports and queries within minutes, not days, and reducing out-of-stocks, delayed shipments, and the risk of losing invoices and orders, which then improved the overall experience for customers (ciecierski, 2013). ciecierski, a.
