The data set that I have given you represents survey results from female prisoners in a minimum security women's prison in Central Illinois. They were administered a survey called the Trauma Symptom Inventory-2 (TSI-2). Two of the scales on the instrument are contained in the data set; they are trauma symptoms and depression symptoms. The unit of measurement is a T score. A T score on a psychological measurement is different than a T score that is a statistical analysis. A T score on a psychological measurement is a standardized score where the mean is 50 with the standard deviation of 10. When clinicians look at most psychological instruments, they are looking for scores that are 1 1/2 standard deviations above the mean. Those scores are considered clinically significant. In other words, the clinician should see this symptom as an area important for clinical intervention. So a score above 65, is considered to be clinically significant.

The first thing you should do with this data set is run Descriptives that include the mean and standard deviation. You also need to report the sample size. Write a sentence reporting those results using the proper format as if you were reporting it in a scholarly journal. Note the M standing for mean, and SD standing for standard deviation are italicized but nothing else is.

Here is a template:

The mean for [the first variable] (M = xx.x, SD = xx) was recorded, as was the mean for [the second variable] (M = xx.x, SD = xx).

Then I want you to run a Pearson correlation with the trauma T score and the depression T score. Report the result accurately as if you were reporting them in a Journal. Then write a sentence in which you interpret the correlation.
