Developing the Scope of a Project In the unit's lecture , class discussions and your readings , we identify scope planning as the very first step project managers take in order to manage their project successfully . This is the stage of the project life cycle where the project manager defines all work needed to successfully meet the Project Deliverables . This process leads to specifying the requirements to be measured and tested , and those things related to producing value to the investor / business so that they can achieve their strategic goals . You are the project manager employed to construct a large eco - friendly amusement park in the center of the city . Assume that you have engaged / interviewed your key stakeholders and you understand their requirements from the project . 1 ) Produce a Work Breakdown Structure and develop a comprehensive scope statement for this project following the checklist we covered in class . 2 ) Assume that one of your key stakeholders have requested a major change in the scope of this project . Explain how you would handle this change request , explaining how this change , if implemented , could affect your project timelines and cost ( Examine within the context of the " Triple Constraint " we discussed in class ) .
