You might want to include reference to the following: The role of value chain analysis in helping organizations identify the value that each activity making up its product or service adds; The importance of linkages within the value chain, and how these inter-linked activities can be a source of competitive advantage; How competitive advantage might also derive from managing the wider links across the value chain system, i.e. with suppliers; How the cost of one activity on another can be reduced or its performance enhanced; That discernible benefit can still be derived from some understanding of an organization's value chain activities even where this understanding is not complete.
