Virtual and augmented reality-applications: Virtual reality is the total fabrication of an alternate "world". Often what comes to mind is the world of video games and entertainment. Augmented reality is the addition or "augmentation" of reality with virtual reality elements added. Animation added to sports coverage of a baseball game in which a pitcher's pitch trajectory is depicted on the screen is one example. Another example is the Chicago Tribune article on virtual reality and Alzheimers disease. What other applications can you think of?
