Discussion Response: How does your decision-making process compare to your peers' process?

The use of a decision matrix is helpful in finding a purely logical solution that is free of emotion or bias. You are able to assess the best course of action based on prioritization of needs. For example, if a business was interested in expanding a brick-and-mortar store into another city or state, they could use the decision matrix to help them find the best possible location based on price, square footage, federal and state or local laws applying to employment, demographics, etc.

The most challenging part of applying the matrix to my final project was deciding on which technology to incorporate. It was time consuming because of the thought put into each of the values based on the business owner's needs. After further analysis, the decision to land on one technology was very apparent as it was based on pure logic.

Some recommendations I would make to change my project given some of the challenges I faced would be to understand what the strategic goal of the company is. This may be the hardest part of the decision-making process. What is it the company needs to accomplish, etc.? Once that decision is made, creating a decision matrix will help formulate the best decision possible.
