During a holiday in your hometown, you met up with friends you had at school. They heard that you are studying IT and proposed you start a company together, developing applications that can benefit the community, more specifically the elderly who struggles to move around. Although all of you share a passion for IT, only you can program and therefore understand the process involved in developing applications. Being the caring person that you are, you decide to put your talents to good use and agree to work together with your friends in creating an application for the elderly. You quickly find out that their biggest need is for an 'errand' type service that could assist them with anything ranging from picking up their medication at the pharmacy to buying their groceries from their local shop to taking them to their senior citizen gatherings on the other side of town. You quickly realize that this project will take a lot of your time but can be invaluable to the elderly community of your hometown. You just have two conditions that your friends will have to meet if they wish to engage your services on this project: 1) The project will be completed free of charge and 2) You will take the lead in the development effort. Varsity will be starting soon for the next semester and as such you will not be able to create the entire errand app. For now, you have decided to focus on creating an application that will allow the elderly to arrange transport for running their errands. Question 1 (Marks: 20) Explain to your friends what the System Development Life Cycle is. Then motivate the importance of each core process of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Substantiate your arguments with well researched examples illustrating the consequences of engaging in these processes negligently. Question 2 Q.2.1 Compile a list in which you identify the stakeholders for this project. Motivate your selection of the individual(s) for inclusion in your list of stakeholders in terms of their potential contribution to requirements definition. Q.2.2 Based on research about similar applications, identify five plausible functional requirements for the current focus of your design and development efforts. Q.2.3 Using the User-Goal Technique, identify any three use cases for any one of the functional requirements identified in Question 2.2. State the goal and the use cases. (Marks: 45) Q.2.4 Based on your answers to Question 2.1 to 2.3, draw an Entity-Relationship (ERD) diagram to represent any three entities about which your application will need to store data. Your ERD relationships should show cardinality, Primary Keys and at least four attributes for each entity. Q.2.5 Create a System Sequence Diagram that will show the sequence of events that take place when an elder makes a trip booking. (9) (5) (4) (21) (6) Question 3 (Marks: 10) Discuss five ways in which the application developed can be secured so that the system and the information contained within it remains guarded. Question 4 Q.4.1 (Marks: 25) Discuss four ways in which you can incorporate the values of agile development in (8) your project. Q.4.2 Create a presentation, using appropriate software, that you will use to obtain approval from the community to continue with the project. The presentation must be submitted together with your responses to the other questions in the assignment. (17) During a holiday in your hometown, you met up with friends you had at school.
