Each group will identify a country which would be a good export market for a Canadian firm. (i.e. Make in Canada and sell to customers in a foreign country.) The analysis must identify why firms in Canada would find the foreign country to be an attractive market and identify the specific market sectors that would be a good fit with both the Canadian exporting firms strengths and capabilities, the needs of foreign customers (B2B and/or B2C), and the potential market opportunities in the foreign market. Pick an existing Canadian firm- I HAVE PICKED RUDSACK COMPANY. Identify a country that the firm is not currently exporting to, but which would be an attractive market- I HAVE IDENTIFIED ITALY (Canada Goose is probably not exporting to Tonga, but given that Tonga is quite a poor country, per capita GDP $4,978.80 USD, with a hot tropical climate, the demand for down jackets is likely quite limited. Canada Goose does export to Latvia. The reasonably high income levels, per capita GDP $17,619.95 USD, and cold weather make it a good choice for an export market.) Please note, China, India, Mexico, and the USA are NOT really good choices as they are already significant customers for Canadian firms, all of the trade infrastructure is already in place, and/or you wont have the opportunity to learn as much. The business plan should incorporate, among other things, the trade and marketing elements necessary for a business organization preparing to go international.
