Elizbeth Holmes was recently sentenced to 11 years for being found guilty of so-called "white collar" crimes and a well-known lawyer named Michael Avenatti was sentenced to 14 years for misappropriation of client assets. 

Please  take  a moment to look up each case online to read about the charges they were found guilty of then answer the following questions:

• Do you feel like the punishment each defendant received was too harsh? Not harsh enough?  Why do you feel this way? If you were the presiding judge - how would you have sentenced the defendants differently (if you would have given a similar sentence - that is fine- just include your rationale).
• Do you feel as though incarcerating white-collar criminals serves as a good deterrent to prevent similar crimes from occurring in the future? Why or why not?
