Background:
While the General Ledger is the center of the financial system, Inventory is arguably the center of the distribution and manufacturing cycles. There is a wide range of complexity available among various ERP systems.
Exercise: For the tasks through for data see page and following.
Set up an Inventory Location.
Set up an Inventory Group.
Set up Inventory Items.
Select or or items from the items listed below. No need to set up all of the items. Pick several different types of items to see differences among different types of items. This list is merely intended to provide some variety.
Set up an Inventory Kit.
Different systems handle Inventory Kits differently.
Sometimes it is difficult to figure out where to go and may require some research to find out exactly how a particular package handles Inventory Kits.
Optional Set up a Bill of Materials. This task is optional.
Perform this exercise in two systems.
Performing this exercise in a third system will earn additional points.
Compare the two, or three, systems from the perspective of setting up Inventory Items.
