Ethical models. Required:Use our class framework as your guide for responding to the specified case below. You must 1) respond to each Framework suggestion (listed below); 2) consider all 5 models in each case; and 3) make a clear decision as to what is ethically the right course of action (or whether the action in the case is ethically sound) and state it clearly. Remember, your score is not based on your opinion, but rather, how well you use the tenets of the ethical models to arrive at what you believe is the best, most ethical answer.

Case Scenario: Several of a local professional football teams players decide to take a knee during the national anthem, as a protest against racial discrimination they have noted around the country. The national anthem is played before each game, and usually, players are expected to stand during the anthem by management. Assume the team is a private employer, meaning absent a contract provision, players can be fired for any reason that is not illegal or involving a protected class (i.e. they cannot be fired for gender, race, national origin, etc.) but could be fired for any private speech management does not like or believes is detrimental to the organization. (Ignore contracts for purposes of this exercise- assume players are employed at will, with no specific contracts individualized to them).

Assume players took a knee in protest at the most recent game this past week. Is it ethical for teams to fire or discipline players for taking a knee? Note: be sure to argue your position using the ethical models- which may not necessarily reflect your personal beliefs!
