Use our class framework as your guide for responding to the specified case below. You must 1) respond to each Framework suggestion (listed below); 2) consider all 5 models in each case; and 3) make a clear decision as to what is ethically the right course of action (or whether the action in the case is ethically sound) and state it clearly.

Case Scenario: Cumberland College was desperate to fill an open position- Director of AI relations. This position was considered to be critical to the core mission of the college, and accordingly was executive level and highly paid. The college has a very tight budget, aside from the allocation available for this position. The position remained open for several weeks, but due to the demands in the job market, few interested individuals applied. After a few weeks, only a handful of less-than-qualified candidates had submitted resumes. After finally receiving just a paltry number of qualified candidate resumes, the college moves forward and hires Casey Williams.

He is not the perfect hire. He is only minimally qualified, having the bare minimum educational background, experience, and skill set to meet the requirements of the job. That said, he is technically qualified. He is also local, being from Melfort, and is able to start almost immediately. He has a good attitude and is known to be a capable worker. The college hopes he will grow into the role. Later on, if things become more complex than his experience allows him to handle, they will address those problems then. Casey starts on August 1st, 2023. His first few weeks on the job are fine: no major problems, and nothing remarkable happens.

Then, on August 15th, 2023, the hiring committee received an email from Jennifer Flores. She has been out of the country for over a month, working closely with heavy-hitters like Elon Musk, Geoffrey Hinton, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and several others. Accordingly, she did not see any of the communications about the open position. She currently works for a top-5 firm in AI and would be considered to be on the Mount Rushmore of AI trailblazers. To state it differently, she is a household name in all of the areas in which Cumberland needs help and is likely the best person the college could hope to hire. The good news is that she is looking to slow down a bit and thinks Cumberland is ideal. She states that money is not a factor, and it is more about work-life balance and organizational mission for her. You get the sense she would definitely accept if offered a position.

The hiring committee chair suggests that the college immediately offer Bryan a short severance period, after which he would be terminated, and hire Allison right away.

1) Would this move be ethical? Why or why not?

2) What would you recommend as the best course of action?
