ETL (Extract, Transfer and Load)

1) If the  sales order date  had been imported as a number, how could this cause a problem without analysis if we wanted to drill down into the data by month for example?

2) Examine the data type for  the sales order ID  .
-What are the benefits of importing the data type as text? Or a numeric field?
-Why wouldn't keeping this data as text present a problem in our analysis?
