EXAMPLE 4-4 A constant-air-volume system having a filter located in the supply duct (location B, EE Fig. 4-9) and a filter efficiency of 70 percent for ETS (Environmental Tobacco CS Smoke) is to be used to assist in holding the particulate level of the ETS in an occupied zone to below 220 g/m. Assume that an average occupant (including smokers and nonsmokers) produces about 125 g/min of ETS, and that 20 cfm of outdoor air per person is to be supplied.
