Purpose

Having a great Elevator Pitch is something that will serve you well throughout your careeras Addiction & Community Support Worker. Whether it is at a conference, an interview, or as a representative in your new field of work, having clear, concise and prepared "elevator pitch" allows you to describe who you are, why you do what you do, serve who you serve, what makes you especially great for this work you are so passionate about, and creates interest for others to wish to connect and work with you in this industry.

Using the groundwork laid through completing Exercise 1 on Day 1, you will be able to pull valuable information from your answers to craft your "pitch".

STEP 1 - Writing your one-minute "pitch"

You have done some excellent work an exploration in your first exercise. Your elevator pitch summarizes the best and most important information you uncovered during this exploration. Put together a written statement approximately 60-90 seconds in duration.

Within your "pitch", you should be able to now share:

1/ Who you are and what you are passionate about?

2/ Your "WHY"- with a brief story if you have one?

3/ What you are looking for along with special traits/abilities/interests that make you uniquely suited for this work - creates value

4/ A call to engage/encourage connection/ask about the other person

STEP 2 - Practice your one-minute "pitch"

Practice reading and timing your speech in front of the mirror.

Make eye contact, as you would with a colleague, mentor or recruiter.
