The industry is competitive with less than 200 companies with annual sales of more than $100 million and over 5,000 automotive parts suppliers in the U.S. The recession in 2008 forced many suppliers out of business as sales dropped to more than 30% and overseas markets began competing for market share. The industry returned to profitability in 2011. Jackson was able to survive the recession and has been rebuilding sales since 2010.
