First part : Background with research problem: Select a particular industry (such as new luxury car industry), a particular car company in that industry (such as Mercedes, BMW or Audi etc.) and provide background information on both industry and company in very brief manner. Identify from recent news an ongoing current problem in this company and highlight this research problem. Aim: you need to specify clearly and briefly what is the aim of your research based on the research problem identified and highlighted in background section. Aim should be in one sentence only. It usually reflects the title of your study.
Literature review: Identify related factors related with the research problem (such as service quality, high price, low loyalty etc.) and then applying the knowledge from lecture, articles and book provide a brief literature review. Research questions: Add 1-2 research questions that you are going to address by qualitative and/or quantitative analyses. If you use both, there should be 2 research questions. It is the question form of your research aim. Method: Briefly describe who are your participants, their location or region, demographic descriptions (i.e. age, gender, education, income, family status), no. of participants (sample size, i.e. how many you interviewed). Second part: Qualitative analysis: Analysis: In this section, you need to mention which qualitative analysis you have chosen for your study. Using the knowledge on qualitative concepts and techniques taught in the class, you can pick any one of the qualitative techniques (such as interview, cases, netnography, observation etc.). Following that car company example, for instance, you may take interview on 5/6 friends or family members to ask how they feel about a luxury car in particular your chosen car company. If you take interview, you need to add the questions asked in appendix section. Findings: You need to report the findings from interview/other methods. No hypothesis is required for this second part. Add 3-5 findings from your overall qualitative analyses. Recommendations: Based on the findings add 3-5 recommendations for management. Use short, separate paragraphs for each recommendation. Third part: Hypotheses: Add 3-4 hypotheses. Analysis: In this section, you need to mention which quantitative analyses you have chosen for your study. Using the knowledge on quantitative concepts
and techniques taught in the class, you can pick several quantitative techniques (such as T-test, Cross-tabulations, Regression etc.). Findings: Add 3-5 findings from your quantitative analyses. These are basically answering your hypotheses (accepted or rejected). Recommendations: Based on the findings add 3-5 recommendations for management. Use short, separate paragraphs for each recommendation. Additional tips: * Dont include any direct definition, theory or explanation from the book. * Students need to mention about the word count on the cover page. * Make sure you pick a title of your major research project which is relevant for both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
